What can I expect when I attend Simplicity on a Sunday?

We strive to create a relaxed, casual, and friendly environment at Simplicity - think predominately a “jeans, t-shirts, and hats” kind of vibe. Our service starts at 9:30am, but it’s not uncommon for people to show up closer to 9:15am to chat and enjoy donuts and coffee. Our music definitely leans toward contemporary (although we’ll throw a traditional hymn in there from time to time!) and the messages, which are guided by the Lectionary, are often full of progressive and thought provoking insights. Communion is offered every Sunday and everyone (yes, EVERYONE) is invited to participate but it’s certainly not required. Ultimately, we’re a fun-loving and close knit community that laughs together and cries together as we make our way through this messy and beautiful thing called life together.

Is Simplicity Open and Affirming to the LGBTQ+ Community?

YES! Simplicity is an open and affirming community; to clarify - we welcome, embrace, and affirm our LGBTQ+ siblings. We march with our LGBTQ+ members in the Pride parade to demonstrate our love and support, we invite members of the LGBTQ+ community to speak at Simplicity, and we have individuals who identify as LGBTQ+ in our community who serve on our board, sing in our band, and work in our Children’s program. Simplicity is for EVERY KIND OF BIRD!

Who Can Serve In Leadership?

There are no glass ceilings at Simplicity. More specifically, we do not place any restrictions on or discriminate against anyone for leadership positions based on gender, race, identity, sexual preference, or any other criteria.

Does Simplicity offer financial assistance to those who have a need?

Short answer - YES.

Longer answer - In 2018 we created a program called The Angel Fund with the understanding that all funds raised through it would be dedicated to giving financial assistance to those in need. If you or someone you know has fallen on hard times and is in need of financial assistance, please email us at simplicityokc@gmail.com.

Does Simplicity offer Childcare on Sunday mornings?

With our recent decision to nest in the Southern Hills gymnasium, our S+Kids program is BACK! Childcare is provided for children of all ages on Sunday mornings. Please direct any questions you may have to simplicityokc@gmail.com.
